Job Title: Sous Chef

Form of employment: Full-time

Job summary:

Sushi La bar is looking for a highly experienced sous chef to join our fast-paced and growing restaurant. As a sous chef, you need to have proven success in the kitchen as a confident and efficient who can motivate kitchen staff and create a team environment. Major responsibilities will include, follow directions from Chef de Cuisine, meeting food cost targets for the kitchen as well as directly managing and training the kitchen staff, maintaining quality control and managing inventory and purchases.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations
  • Audit the procedures
  • Monitor the quality of food
  • Track, record and maintain inventory stock, including food and kitchen supplies
  • Delegating daily tasks to the appropriate cooks and kitchen staff and managing their progress
  • Arrange the ordering of food and supplies weekly
  • Train staff to properly execute recipes using the right techniques as well as plating and presentation

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Culinary school graduate
  • Experience as a sous chef or a junior sous chef
  • Experience in an Asian cuisine establishment or personal knowledge of Asian flavors and techniques is a must
  • Vast knowledge of culinary arts
  • Knowledgeable in using all sorts of kitchen equipment
  • Effective and clear communicator
  • Excellent management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Fluent in English
  • Proven leadership and abilities inside the kitchen
